Lady Gaga uncovers on four different covers for V Magazine‘s September issue, but she goes the full monster inside.
The dynamic duo of Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin captures the 27-year-old pop superstar in an Armani Technicolor Dreamcoat; a sexy-parochial Balenciaga collar; serving Chrissie Hynde realness in Saint Laurent Paris; and, in yet another homage to Liz Hurley’s infamous red carpet dress and the halcyon days of 90s body conscious dressing, Versace paperclips.
The looks were styled by her new fashion director Brandon Maxwell, and it seems that after all that haute couture he just went to bed because inside Stephanie Germanotta is naked as the day she was born. She was also born wearing an eight-inch stiletto pump.
Gaga sits down with frequent collaborator Mariano Vivanco for some serious talk about her art, or whatever:
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.
“I thought about Pop Art and how the dominant subject matter was always the celebrity or the pop-culture icon on the canvas, and then I thought to myself, But what I have tried endlessly to become through my work is a celebration of my differences through art, with myself as the canvas, as opposed to me as the subject matter, being put on the canvas. I don’t want to be an icon in just one form.I want to be an icon in many forms. So that’s where it began.”
You can pre-order all four covers and a limited edition box set here, in anticipation of your disappointment with ARTPOP.
