Lady Liberty Raises Giant Finger Toward Hiram Monserrate

So that was a pretty nice thing voters in Queens did yesterday, telling now-former State Sen. Hiram Monserrate to take his face slashing and anti-gay marriage votes and get the hell out. [NYT]

MONSTER-RAT DEFEATED!!!

In the 2008 general election, Monster-rat ran unopposed and received just under 42,000 votes (the only votes he did not get were 5 write-ins).

That means (except for a handful of new voters): just about everyone who voted yesterday had previously voted for Monster-rat; almost all who voted against Monster-rat had previously supported him; all those who voted for the other guys had previously supported Monster-rat; and, 1 in 10 who had voted for Monster-rat in 2008, are fucking morons, bigots, misogynists and/or women beaters.

I would love to see the women in the churches who’s pastors so rabidly supported this vicious scumbag who beat the crap out of his girlfriend call them out. The pastor’s mesage is that it is ok to beat the women in the flock, just don’t support the Gays

@AndrewW: I don’t expect you to apologize, but I’m so happy you get to eat a little crow today after telling us all that Monserrate’s campaign had been “resuscitated” by Tim Gill, a 66% to 27% defeat says otherwise. Thank you Queens & Jackson Heights voters!Thank you Fight Back New York! Now whichever candidate comes forward to oppose Senator Ruben Diaz gets my next campaign contribution.

Now, if we could just get those other 7 Senators to beat up their girlfriends, provide a video of the abuse, get arrested, convicted and then expelled from the State Senate by a vote of 53-8, we could really pat ourselves on the back.

The other 7 NY Senators FightBackPac is targeting have only one issue: they didn’t support marriage equality.

Monserrate was gone before FightBackPac spent +$100,000 telling New Yorkers what they already knew. There was always the risk that this unnecessary campaign could have helped him, but it was simply a waste of money.

Monserrate ended his career, not us.

@soul_erosion: He didn’t have a campaign until FightBackPac did their little publicity stunt. It wasn’t necessary.
