Lady Sovereign No Longer ‘Gives a Shit’ If You Know She’s Gay

Lady Sovereign, the British rapper, is a big lesbian. You’ve sort of known about this for a bit now. It’s even let you excuse her for appearing on Celebrity Big Brother. But now she’s done and come out the way all persons of varying degrees of celebrity must: in a magazine.

Sovereign tells Diva, “Magazines would always ask about it but [questions about my sexuality] would get stopped by my publicists. It was my choice, too, because I was a bit worried about it but now I don’t really give a shit. You can’t hide away forever. It’s just stupid and now I’ve come out I feel a lot more comfortable with myself. But it was a bit scary back then because some people do have horrible opinions.”

And not that Chely Wright coming out isn’t a big deal in its own right, but Lady Sov? She didn’t even need a weeks-long build-up to do it!
