He [Liberace] had no trouble getting all the dates he wanted and he gloried in escorting well-known entertainers to parties, getting his picture taken with Susan Hayward, Gale Storm, Rosemary Clooney, Mae West, and Judy Garland. Mae was the only one of his so-called lady friends I actually met. As they say in Texas, Mae was a hoot! She and Lee were an unpredictable twosome who enjoyed trying to outdo each other’s outrageousness.”

What we would give to be at that table, though Sophie Tucker’s clearly not having any of it.

How could people even think for a minute that this guy wasn’t gay? He was the stereotype personified!Obviously,I’m not saying anything against him,but come on! lol!
Cam
@MickeyP.:
The same way that when Rosie O’Donnell was on her show people thought she was just a single mother who never wore skirts or make-up and went way way WAAAAAAAAYYYYYYY overboard to make SURE to scream out at every pause in conversation that she was in love with Tom Cruise.

Not that I’d think for one second that Judy wouldn’t go out with Lee and gladly keep u the scharade,but the photo used in this story showing Lee, Judy and Sophie Tucker was taken at the premiere of “A Star Is Born” after party held at the Coconut Grove in Hollywood. Judy’s “date” was her husband, Sid Luft. Lee brought his mother to the premiere that night.

One thing is for sure – these people are all DEAD.
Harley
@MickeyP.: Well, you know. It’s was the 50”s and there weren’t any homersectuals back then.

I do hope the next Batman movie will resurrect the character Chandal and his evil twin brother. Liberace played that to the hilt. It is a riot. He looks like a queen throughout the entire two-part episode. Wait a minute. What am I saying? After thinking about it, he was only being himself, with BOTH characters.

I hope the bio-pic touches on the tricks he had to have thrown out of his house as well as those he let hang around.
MickeyP.
@Harley: LOL!
MickeyP.
@Cam: Naw,I knew she was gay the minute I saw her! I have great gaydar!And,I think the whole Tom Cruise thing was done in fun.Just like Ellen’s underwear models!
Cam
@MickeyP.:
You know how to recognize it, Rosie was trying to hide the fact from the straight audience who automatically assume hetrosexuality. The Tom Cruise thing…I could believe it MIGHT have been done in fun……except for the fact that after she came out she basically never mentioned the guy again.
Cobalt Blue
@MickeyP.: I agree with you. He was the quintessential of a flamboyant bachelor-tacky queen. I think that in the 40’s and 50’s people noticed, of corse the difference between a square man and this sassy sissy libelulle…but they kept their mouths closed because ‘decente people’ didn’t talk about many things on those days. He was vary popular with ‘mature women’ that was a large part of his fans and I think it was that way because those women possible thought that a very skilled piano player should be and act the way he was.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vdD_CwXnBRg………….Try not to laugh too hard at the “fight” where NOT ONCE does Liberace gets punched. And this is Batman, mind you.
Cobalt Blue
@Bob LaBlah: Thanks for the vídeo. Liberace always delivering gay moments to us. He was more acceptable ( decent ) in the prison uniform with this cap than ‘ free ‘ with his huge wig.

You know, I can’t fault a guy who never had a bad thing to say about anybody and who was empowered by his passions to be the best person he could be to everyone and the rest of the world. May he rest in peace.
