Limbaugh: Do We Have to Say 'Dikes'?

Proud homophobe Rush Limbaugh — the voice of the conservative party, we hear! — can't stand all those news reports about the flooding in Fargo. You know, because of all those "dikes" possibly breaking. And let's throw Hillary Clinton's name into the mix, you know, because she knows about "dikes."

aside from the whole retardedness of his thinking the word 'dike' is uncomfortable :P he's a moron. with that in consideration, he's even more moronic

Seriously? Is he in junior high school? Oh wait, just like it's funny that he thinks of Hillary when he hears dike, it is little wonder I think of him when I think of "high".

I think of Rush when I hear the word "limp".

Rush always seems to rush to judgement, once again! He seemingly cringes at the very suggestion of the word "dike". Just shows what a conservative homophobe thinks and acts like in the face of news worthy information.

Rush's mouth is always spilling over and maybe someone should put a dike in his mouth just to shut him up about his ridiculous rantings.

Shut the Rush up, Rush!

He's a dirty bag of douche, with a feces encrusted nozzle. he's only popular because the idiots in the midwest that pride themselves in their low intelligence quotients and dukes of Hazzard reruns. He stirs up controversy, and not the good kind. Secondly, it's dykes, not dikes, not that the word should be used. but Limbaugh's retarded enough to mistake the two. Limbaugh needs to be taken off air, free speech is a right, not a privilege, and some people abuse that privilege.

Maybe we should think of another word for the little orifice between our butt cheeks just so he doesn't mistakenly think we're talking about him.

@Mickey's mouse :P:
I think the two spellings are so interchangeable that it hardly matters what is in the styleguide.
That said, I have always used "dyke" to refer to a person, and "dike" to refer to the earthen barrier.

Leave it to an obese, ugly drug addict to spew this petty trash talk. Hillary Clinton has done more for America than all his pin head, ditto heads combined.

But, some good is coming out from the "head" of the GOP, the more he opens that big, uncouth trap, the mroe people of decency see right through him and the GOP he reps.

Wow he's dumb…dikes have nothing to do with contingencies. Dikes are just the barrier the contingents built to try to keep the flooding at bay. I live two hours from Fargo and even here Limbaugh would be thrown out a window for saying this. Thousands of people have lost their home and have had to be transported elsewhere. It is very similar to Katrina in that entire houses are underwater, people have had to be evacuated by helicopter from their roofs, and other people are currently seeking shelter in the Fargodome. He is being incredibly insensitive. Hundreds of volunteers from my town of 11,000 alone have gone to build these dikes so that the damage doesn't get worse. And they expect the already 43 feet of flooding to overflow the dikes within a few days. Students and teachers from Fargo and nearby Moorhead are now taking residence in my schools, having their classes there. And patients from the hospital there have had to be transported here as well. It's majorly crowding other schools and hospitals. How dare he make jokes about this. He can burn in Hell.

@Gorbeh:
I grew up in Winnipeg and was there during the flood of 97. Fortunately I live on much higher ground now, but I sympathize, and am keeping my eye on the news.

What a total bitch. I feel deeply for those people working hard to build these lesbian water barriers. If I lived closer, I would be out there helping.

People, people, PEOPLE. You're talking about him as if he's someone that matters. Sure, he has a massive "fan base," but really, it's all the same idiots that would vote for Bush again given the chance, that same population that keeps Fox News' ratings going. And besides, the people that respect him tend to conveniently not acknowledge his ugly past/present as a drug abuser… which, likely, informs every word he says. And really, as if conservative pundits have been responsible for anything positive coming out of the last 100 years. Let's stop giving him attention altogether.

@burton21: Yeah, no kidding. As far as I can tell, he's just some irrelevant blowhard who's barely successful as an entertainer these days, much less anyone who has actual views worthy of consideration. Really marginal.

I'm perfectly fine with using the word "Limbaugh" instead of "dike" when referring to "…a bank usually of earth constructed to control or confine water." Same thing.

Gays need to take back the media from these guys. They talk about anything gay for ratings and it works like a charm.

@ Burton 21 and Pragmatist-

Let's not forget one important thing. The people who listen to this guy (and there are millions of them, make mo mistake) are doing it with their families while driving to soccer practice or sitting around the breakfast table. This isn't happening in a vaccuum. He's perpetuating bigoted ideals to a whole new generation that we automatically assume will be liberal. How can we expect the kids of his listeners to accept gays, or non-whites, or any other segment of the population this evil man rails against?

We can't pass him off as irrelevant when SO MANY PEOPLE LISTEN TO HIM.

I ask all of you to visit the LA Times and comment on Andrew Klavan's article, Take the Limbaugh Challenge. He argues that we bash rush yet we've never listened to him. Actually, as we all know, we've heard enough of his bullshit over the years that we don't listen any more.

I'm not sure why our brand of democracy allows this type of hate speech, but rush is the last of the remaining Frustrated Old White Guys. Our new generation will soon displace these creeps.

Here's the direct link to the challenge:
