THE SHOT - Funny lady Lisa Lampanelli made good on her promise to give the Gay Men’s Health Crisis $1,000 for each of the Westboro Baptist Church members who protested her show. Notice she didn’t sign her check. Well, she did later, making sure to add a frowny face and a cartoon dick right by “WBC” on the memo line. God, we love her.

Daniel: So what the fuck is up with the headline to your post? While $50,000 is generous and much needed, over the years, there have been scores who have donated significantly larger amounts. The Tisch family has donated several million dollars to GMHC. And, in spite of the back-forth struggling for public funding between GMHC and the mayor’s office, Michael Bloomberg has personally contributed hundreds of thousands of dollars to GMHC.
That you and others at Queerty feel the need to ignore honest information and/or fail to do even meager fact checking, diminishes any authority you attempt in expressing opinions and information.

I hate to sound all “The Secret”ish, but Gay Men’s Health Crisis is a self-fulling prophecy name. Why do LGBT groups so often pic dumb names and dumb acronyms like PFLAG? Nonetheless, any noble effort is appreciated.
