One of our favorite Disney songs ever is Peggy Lee’s “He’s a Tramp” from Lady and the Tramp. Not only is Lee’s voice like buttah but the song’s message of lovin’ a man who’s no good for you just resonates in our wounded gay heart.
Now come word there’s an unreleased song from the 1955 Disney classic that’s about to see the light of day.
“I’m Free,” by lyricist Ray Gilbert (“Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah”) and composer Eliot Daniel (I Love Lucy‘s theme song), was cut from the movie as the character of Tramp evolved in the development process. A new recording, sung by Marco Marinangeli, will appear on the new Lady and the Tramp Blu-ray coming out on February 7.
Take a listen to a preview of “I’m Free” and tell us if you like it.
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.

The song sounds lovely but really.. what does this have to do with the gay community?
Did Disney sponsor this article??
Jack
“An lost song”? You writes very goodly Queerty. Try proofreading.

@Jack: Yes, and you have NEVER made a typo in your life. The expectation from a blog is content that is quickly generated not content that is edited over and over. If you want that try reading a newspaper or magazine, both of which have professional editors on staff, which still allow for typos and improper wording to slip through.

An perfectly good song, but nothing memorable about it.
Drew
I agree with Steve, this has nothing at all to do with being GLBT.

For Disneyphiles, this song is not new. It was released as part of the Lady & the Tramp remastering a few years back, & the song was used in the Disney touring musical revue “On The Record.” There’s a reason why it was cut.

@Drew: @steve sydney: Right. Cuz Disney has absolutely no gay fan base.

Mediocre.

Hey…I bought the new DVD release last weekend, mainly for the new song…since I laready have a DVD of the movie…and imagine my surprise when I got home and it’s not on there. Is it part of that second screen feature you have to have a iphone or Ipad to use? Any idea where I could listen to the whole thing online?
Thanks
Steve
