I love it – obviously pop/dance, so some of you won’t like it just because of that. Personally, I love Claude Kelly’s touch – it’s total dance opium.
But the lyrics – it’s on two levels – can you handle what I’m about to do – I betcha thought that I was soft and sweet – I’m here for your entertainment – open your mind – goes out as his first single off the album to his fans, many of whom are very vanilla and think he’s such a sweet boy. I wonder what possessed Adam to put that cover out for the album. The cover for the single is more edgy and masculine. The album cover won’t appeal to straights or gays. The drag queens will love it though. I accept Adam’s lifesyle and he has definitely liberalized my thoughts on basic rights for all people. Adam knows the types of fans that saw him on tour and his performances were masculine and edgy. Now it looks like he has a different persona. Looks like the guy is going to do it. His album is charting at #1 on iTunes, and it hasn’t even been released yet. All the snarkiness here aside, I think it’s important that a way out, 24/7 gay guy is pulling this off. True, he has an extraordinary talent, but there were a lot of risks. This will have important implications for gay people in entertainment business, and, I think by extension, for all of us. Check back at that album cover, THAT’S going mainstream!
