Splitting the $140 his mother gave him to donate to charities of his choice, seven-year-old Malcolm split the cash between the Human Rights Campaign and the L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center, which promptly shared the little hero’s story in a fundraising email. Explains Malcolm’s mother: “To teach the importance of improving the world around him, Malcolm was given $140 to give away to the charity of his choice. After hearing a story on the radio about the mistreatment of gays and lesbians, Malcolm became both upset and curious about the issue…to help, he chose to split his money between the L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center and the Human Rights Campaign Foundation.”
Two bitters and a sweet:
1) It’ll only be a matter of months before he becomes bitter upon realizing the majority of his HRCF donation went to administrative overhead.
2) I wish I had $140 just laying around to give away. That would imply that I was doing pretty well for myself…
3) This kid is awesome. There’s the sweet part. Right there.

AWWW what a sweet little boy! I heart him and his awesome mom.

What a sweet kid, and very well raised he is, that his parents would do something like give him 140 dollars to help out a charity to begin with. You can tell he has been raised with good ideals, and the breathing room to think on his own.
God bless that family

@Vlad – more spiritual than people were during the medieval period?
More spiritual than people were during the greek/roman period?
Your comments are new age gibberish and meaningless.
Being a member of the “irrational community” is not helpful.
No, it’s far more likely this boy is just a product of a nice family, not-infected with the religious gibberish that causes anti gay attitudes.

@Beth: Yeah, everyone called me an Indigo Child too. I was even in the Gifted Program at my school (that just proves all this is bullshit). But do you know what? “Indigo” and “Gifted” are just uptight suburban/ upper Manhattan mom for “retarded.”

OMG. I am clapping right now. Clapping my hands together. This child is a gem.
