Texas’ Bexar County Democratic Party chairman Dan Ramos is sorry if your “feelings” were “hurt” when he referred your kind as “termites” and the Stonewall Democrats as “the equivalent of the fuckin’ Nazi Party,” but that’s about the best apology you’re going to get from him.
Gays “are all connected to the gay Democratic Party, the so-called Stonewall Democrats,” Ramos the San Antonio Current. “Just like termites they managed to get some of their people in key positions. … I liken them to the Tea Party – the Tea Party and the fucking Nazi Party – because they’re 90 percent white, blue-eyed, and Ango, and I don’t give a fuck who knows that. Just like the blacks … they’re American, but you can’t get your way just because you’re black.”
On Thursday, when confronted about his comments, Ramos insisted, “I don’t regret anything that I have said since I took office,” says Ramos. “I think I am dealing with the truth, sometimes the truth hurts.”
Not surprisingly, the Stonewall Democrats have called for Ramos to resign. But the real victim here, of course, are termites. Even Stonewall member Dee Villarruba, who’s demanding Ramos step down, wants to annihilate these poor insects: “To call us termites, that’s an insect that you want to step on and squash.”
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.

I’m glad he isn’t apologizing. This way, his comments will stay in the historical record, and he will be forever remembered as a bigot (that is, until history completely forgets him, which probably won’t be long). He is on the wrong side of history.
Hyhybt
If he won’t resign, is there any way to force him out?
(I quite like termites, so long as they leave my house alone. Which may be why they do.)

Dan Ramos, from the SA Current article.
“What it is, is we have a very, very sinister movement in which you don’t know, at the end of the day, you didn’t even know that your next door buddy, your bosom fishing buddy was gay. That, I guess, goes to my belief in the religious thing. Look: this is not natural. This is like a kid who was born with a polio leg, you can’t kill him and you can’t sweep him under the rug.”
.
Say what?
Jim Hlavac
So, along with this Democrat, and all those who voted for him, and the Democratic Evangelical Black Christian Churches, and the Democrat in Kansas who wants to keep the unconstitutional wording of the sodomy statute, and the mostly-Democratic voting Catholics, and oh, I don’t know how many more and of what stripe — the Democrats are for gay people? Hmm. What friends we have in that party. Why even Obama is “evolving” on the issue by being a tad more tolerant than his long time preacher Jeremy Wright.
I’d rather go with the TEA party’s “Don’t Tread on Us” frankly. Though I’d add “either” to the phrase.
james_from_cambridge
@Jim Hlavac: Stop being delusional. The Democrats are overwhelmingly pro-gay while the Republicans are overwhelmingly anti-gay. You have one or two exceptions to any rule though, because, that’s life. Go teabag if you want, but don’t make excuses-we all know which one of the two parties is the part of bigots (and xenophobes and Islamophobes, etc. and it ain’t the Democrats!) Also, when a Dem makes a statement like this (and this is the first time I’ve heard a Dem say something like this) he gets forced out. When a Republican says something like this, he becomes a right-wing hero and gets a promotion. Just go be a Republican because you hate yourself or poor people or immigrants but cut the equivocating crap!
reason
@Jim Hlavac: I don’t know what you are talking about, the Catholics are inching closer to supporting gay marriage likely do to the democratic Catholics. Plus, Jeremiah Wright was of the more supportive wing of pastors on GBLT issues: openly pushing for GBLT inclusion, having an openly gay Assistant pastor, and used a gay father as an example of what it means to be a good father on fathers day. Top that off with the democratic controlled legislators that have passed gay marriage or civil unions, and the democratic judges or appointees that have ruled in our favor. Oh and how about the democrats in Texas also electing an openly gay mayor. They sound like good friends to me. So, you went all the way south to conservatown and found a democrat that was a bigot, you don’t have to look very far to find handfuls of republican ones. Just look at their possible presidential field with Gingrich donating 350,000 dollars to stop gay marriage, he showed true commitment by putting his money where his mouth is. Are those the types of friends you want?
Gay Republican
@Jim Hlavac: Yup. Don’t forget that Fred Phelps is a Democrat too!
How come the liberal media fails to mention this every time they do a story about him?
Hyhybt
@Gay Republican: I’d be surprised to find that’s true: he seems to hate pretty well everybody.
Anyway, I was just reading from the old Devil’s Dictionary and found this:
“Conservative
(noun) A statesman who is enamoured of existing evils, as distinguished from the Liberal, who wishes to replace them with others.”
Brian Miller
But but but this is impossible!
It never happened!
The Democrats are always on our side!
(Alas, I couldn’t post my reply before James_From_Cambridge provided the boilerplate “Democrats are our eternal allies” multi-paragraph apologia).
Gay Republican
@Hyhybt: For your reading pleasure here is the whole thread of liberal loons going through the phases of denial and anguish over the fact that Fred Phelps is indeed a longtime Democrat, Democrat candidate for various offices and public supporter of Al Gore:

@Brian Miller: No, not always; but they’re more *likely* to be.

@Gay Republican: Very interesting. That page reads as follows:

That’s OK. It’s not that I don’t believe you; I’m just doubly amazed: first, that he apparently hates one side somewhat less than the other, and second, that you seem to think it’s relevant in any way whatsoever.
Jeffree
“…like the kid who was born with the polio leg” is his best analogy for gay men? Well, does the word salad insanity ever stop with the Texans?
Don’t matter if they’re pretending to be Dems or Reps, what they have in common is the fantasatical belief in “Texan exceptionalism” and its conjoined twin “Texan superiority complex”. Better put, if y’aint Texan, y’aint shite.”
james_from_cambridge
@Brian Miller: I don’t ever want to find out the extent of the self-loathing that envelops someone like you so that they are driven into the arms of the Republican Party. But then again, there were gay Nazis and gay Fascists, so I guess a certain number of gay men have always been severely mentally ill or maybe like you, they just embraced fascism out of economic convenience.
Still, you fool no one when you equate the religious fascists of groups like Focus on the Family that dominate the Republican Party and often want us forcibly converted or even jailed (or if they’re real Liburl Republicans, they just want us to be second class citizens and shut up) to the Democrats who support equal rights for us, including full marriage rights or at the very least civil unions (in the case of Obama.) Name one Republican that is working tirelessly for the repeal of DOMA and full marriage rights for us the way Dems are doing. If you can read, please look at the following quote:
“The Defense of Marriage Act has become indefensible and must be repealed. The Respect for Marriage Act would get rid of this outdated law and allow all couples to receive the same benefits and protections from the federal government when they marry.”
Joining Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) are co-sponsors: Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.), Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.), John Kerry (D-Mass.), Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.), Chris Coons (D-Del.), Ron Wyden (D-Ore.), Frank R. Lautenberg (D-N.J.), Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.), Jeff Merkley (D-Ore.), Dick Durbin (D-Ill.), Al Franken (D-Minn.), Patty Murray (D-Wash.), Sheldon Whitehouse (D-R.I.), Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.), Mark Udall (D-Colo.), Jeanne Shaheen (D-N.H.), Dan Inouye (D-Hawaii), and Daniel Akaka (D-Hawaii). Not one Republican is a co-sponsor.
http://www.care2.com/causes/civil-rights/blog/senators-support-repealing-the-defense-of-marriage-act/”
You’ve never heard such words from any Republican, ever, and you never will, and you know it, I know it, we all know it. Vote for a Republican President next year and watch him start defending DOMA , which Obama is refusing to do, and tell us again how the Democrats are the anti-gay Party. Again, you don’t fool anyone but yourselves. We know exactly what the Republicans stand for, and it’s hatred and divisiness, whether it’s against gays, immigrants or anyone who isn’t lily-white and straight. The Dems may sometimes be cowards but they’re not evil when it comes to gay issues like you Republicans.
the crustybastard
How the Democratic party deals with this Ramos bigot will be very telling.

I think we should analyze some of these quotes.
–“Just like termites they managed to get some of their people in key positions”
Because that’s what termites and their people do.
–“I liken them to .. the fucking Nazi Party, because they’re 90 percent white, blue-eyed, and Anglo”
What gay porn sites does he base this statement on?
–“you didn’t even know that your next door buddy, your bosom fishing buddy was gay.
If the dude has bosoms you might have suspected something. Bosom Buddies; a sitcom about men in drag.

I thought it couldn’t get any better as an illustration of pure brainwashedness, but you had to deliver for me, didn’t you?
Not only did you post another multi-paragraph drama queen lovefest to The One True Party That Loves Us, but you even delivered a heaping helping of Those Who Are Not With The One True Party Must Be With The Other Party Of Evilness.
It would be such precious idiocy on your part, if it wasn’t so damaging to our sovereignty and independence as queer people to transform us into the fawning subsidiary of a tawdry and corrupt political party.
justiceontherocks
@Gay Republican: Who cares if Phelps is a registered Democrat? He can register however he likes. He probably chose to run as a Democrat in Kansas because there would be less competition.
It’s a straw man argument anyway. Unlike the parade of clowns intending to run for the right to lose to Obama in 2012, Phelps does not claim to speak for the Democrats.
I know the only arguments you have are lame ones, but this one is tired. Try a different one.
james_from_cambridge
@Brian Miller: Why don’t you refute what I said instead of going on a nonsensical bitchfest? Please have someone that can read explain to you what I said about all those Dems trying to get rid of DOMA and how Republicans oppose it…please explain to me why the Republican thugs are not homophobes again??
Soupy
You can always join the teabaggers. But you have to be prepared to use the n word and kick women in the head if they are democrats.
Riker
@james_from_cambridge: Not all Republicans are anti-gay. Stop painting us all with the same brush.
Hyhybt
@Riker: This is true. But when it comes to voting on gay-positive legislation, which party is all but guaranteed, if they cannot stop the vote from even happening, to vote as a bloc against?
This is changing, or at least looks about to be… and I’ll be glad when anti-gay is a fringe position for both. But as things stand, and looking at this set of issues only, and taking each party as a whole, the difference is plain. (No, I’m not suggesting that’s what everyone has to base their votes on.)

I love watching the brain dead “leaders” in various bloated social movements eat their own feet off in public over “teh gays”. It’s almost worth watching the left wing implode. These parasites aren’t leftists, they aren’t progressives, and they understand nothing of political mandates from their own constituents.
Seriously, it’s like watching organ grinders who have only just discovered their monkeys went on a hunger strike. Fuck ’em, right up to Obama. If one minority gets no representation, no minorities get any. Get it fuckwit Dems?
