Considering the fact that three different polls (Field, Gallup, and Suvey USA) have Proposition 8 going down in defeat by a margin of 51-55% to 41-44%, one has to wonder what possible reason you might have to distort the facts in such a way? To drum up support for writing discirmination into the constitution? To prove the talking point that Republicans’ bigotry and intolerance reflect “the will of the people”?

I see. So, your being “right” is more important than other peoples’ rights. I don’t think you’re self-loathing. I think you’re a greedy little jerk. Come to think of it, given your values, it sounds like you’ve joined the perfect political party.

Given that, I can’t fathom how anyone could justify casting a vote for McCain as an aware LGBT individual (actually, I have my suspicions but don’t want to make generalizations about Repubs being focused on their bottom line). Obama’s record isn’t squeaky-clean, either, but he’d clearly be a damn sight better as president than helping Johnny Mac + Sarah “Golly Gee” Palin slink into office. Talk about the lesser of two evils, especially (but not exclusively) where LGBT citizens are concerned. If McCain/Palin somehow do manage to end up in the top spots, though, heaven help us all.

Anyway, I’m not an “apologist” for anyone or anything. I do take offense when people make sweeping derogatory generalizations about gays, though, even when (especially, maybe) the offenders are other gays.

Some of the things you said were a little shaky but I’m not really interested in a drawn-out debate. If you’re not a stereotype, great. My point wasn’t that one should be ashamed of not being a stereotype, just that the way you expressed yourself could have rubbed some of us the wrong way. It is what it is. You wondered why you were seen as creepy + I answered with my own perception of your comments.

All in all, though, it’s not my place to tell you how to “be gay” + I don’t have any desire to do so. Do your thing; I’ll certainly do mine (w/o any “apologies”).

Gays have every right to be promiscuous, but I can tell you they do not get respect. That is a fact and apologists like yourself can deny it all you want. They are made fun of, and it’s hypocritical because most straight men who are promiscuous get a standing ovation for being playboys.

I am very open and upfront about my sexuality, and when I tell people I am gay they do laugh and they do think I’m joking. It’s just the way it is. If people find me creepy or irksome, so be it. I’m not hiding in a closet.

Richard, why am I a creep? I’m monogamous, a Republican, and not a gay stereotype. Am I a creep because I don’t go hooking up in bathrooms and bathhouses? People actually respect me, and when they complain about George Michael’s latest arrest in a bathroom, I tell them we’re not all like that. Chris, I appreciate what you said even though you don’t agree, although I’m at a loss for words as to why I’m facing such hostility from people on here. Yes, I am enjoying my life but it appears people are jealous of that.

Guys, when I tell people I’m gay most laugh because they think I’m joking. When I started a new job a few years ago, my co-workers asked about a wife or g/f, and when I told them I was gay they didn’t believe it. I had my partner come into work to meet them. They thought it was a joke and that I had put a friend up to it. And the girls thought he was way too hot to be gay. (whatever that means?) After finally knowing me a while they realized I wasn’t kidding.

We don’t subscribe to the gay lifestyle so many of you deny you are living. We don’t live in a gay city. Our neighborhood is filled with heterosexuals who come over with their kids to use the pool and we have cookouts. We don’t march in gay parades or have rainbow flags anywhere. We don’t have an open relationship, like 9 out of 10 gay men usually get into.

Prior to getting together, neither one of us had one night stands or friends with benefits, only ltr’s, so we were both on the same page as far as monogamy goes. Sadly, we’ve seen friends get STD’s and AIDS. We live our lives with class and dignity, and we get respect because we don’t shove the “we are gay, live with it!” attitude down everyone’s throat.

We just live our lives. If you want to hate people for being Republican then you are ignorant. I also eat burgers and steaks, so PETA hates me, too. I have friends who are Libertarians, Democrats, and Independants. I love them all just the same. At the end of the day we’re all human.

Enough said.

There is so much material for Tina Fey to do Sarah Palin becuase Sarah Palin is such a complete and total moron.

Nobody knows what determines sexual orientation, although millions of dollars have been spent trying to answer that question. I think the whole nature vs nuture debate takes away from the real issue, which is treating people fairly.

The only thing you can “choose” is whether to be true to yourself or stay in the closet and live a lie.

Good luck with all of that.

Plus, look at all the lemmings who followed Bush Junior. And yet, most of them FINALLY have come around to their senses (and looking past religious reasons to vote, or hatred of gays, or abortion, etc) and are hating on Bush now.

Choosing to accept yourself as you are is indeed a choice, having secret gay sex in public restroom is a choice as well, but the fact is, you’re gay.

I never had sex with a girl, never felt like it, never felt bad because I was attracted to guys. I didn’t make a choice being gay, I made a choice not hiding it and denying it, THAT is a choice.

Saying being gay is a choice is just plain stupid and people should learn the meaning of the words they use before bitching about it when someone calls them up on it.

That said, that doesn’t mean even if I believe that one can construct and build their own gender/sexual identity as they so choose, that I believe Sarah Palin was being that subtle or sophisticated in that statement. Let’s be clear here; she is not staking out some claim for a radical redefinition of gender or sexuality, or standing up for one’s ability to fashion those things with the “choices” one makes, but indicating, like other sinful activities (premarital sex, drinking, gambling, etc) that it is the choice of a person to engage in such sinful behavior.

Truth is, it doesn’t matter, they deserve to be allowed to marry each other just like everybody else.

And I notice how many people in general are supporting Obama and not McCain. I also notice that they make fun of Palin because frankly she’s about as deep as a puddle after a spring shower.
