Log Cabin President Patrick Sammon Steps Down

"After five years at this organization and more than two years leading Log Cabin, I am ready to tackle new challenges. I'll be doing documentary filmmaking, which is what I did before joining Log Cabin's staff", announced LCR President Patrick Sammon in a release today. He counts a successful "Republicans Against 8" campaign, encouraging inclusiveness in John McCain's campaign and calling out Gov. Mitt Romney for using gays and lesbians as a wedge issue during the primaries among his accomplishments. The board does not have an immediate replacement.

How did Republicans Against 8 succeed exactly?

My question exactly, J. The produced a couple of decent internet spots seen by virtually no one. "Successful" is hardly the appropriate word. (But then, what IS appropriate about the LCR's?)

Hey, here's a suggestion for a good replacement: a 4'x8' piece of wallboard, which would probably accomplish more for gay people that this idiot mother-fucker ever did!

That was sudden… no replacement lined up or anything…

I wonder how much money he embezzled before they finally found out?

Can I say how underwhelming? It seems that the LCR are not effective. I can understand the need for a "classic" conservative voice in the gay community (i.e. smaller gov't etc.), however this organisation seems to be anything but capable. The results of these "accomplishments" seem spurious at best – so the best of luck to Patrick Sammon in finding something that is much more rewarding than pissing in the wind that is the state of gay anything and the GOP.

If they're looking for another Auntie Tom to mind the store, perhaps Mary Cheney will need a job since she's not making six-figures to put an administration into office that hates us.

Patrick Sammons had announced to the LCR Board that he planned to leave after the election back in the Spring '08, so it's NOT a surprise resignation. And his tasking within the LCR wasn't electoral-results; it was outreach within the LCR's many local chapters and restoring ties to the National and State-level GOP.

Mark Foley seems to be sniffing around for work. Self-loathing, check…irresponsible, check. Sounds like a match made in heaven.

Could we send them Churchilly's resume? It would give him something to do, and shake up those pink-polo-shirt-wearing poufters!

@greybat: What makes you so sure that wasn't Churchilly?

How do you step down when you're already a bottom-feeder?
