KNOCKED OUT

LOOK: Out Boxer Orlando Cruz Posts Nude Photo On Facebook

orLet no one say that out featherweight boxer Orlando Cruz isn’t taking full advantage of the power of his social media presence. The Puerto Rican-born athlete has posted a tasteful nude photo on his Facebook page, according to Latin website ElNuevoDia. We’re not sure of the reason for the photo, but we’re not prone to question anyone’s attempt to create art.

This isn’t the first time Cruz has used Facebook to get an important message out. Earlier this month Cruz proposed marriage to longtime boyfriend José Manuel by posting a video on his Facebook page. NBCLatino translated Cruz’ proposal as:

I wanted to tell you how much I need you and how much I miss you. I know you are a person that means a lot to me and that supports my career and respects it which is very important, but above all you are always there giving me that push that I need. Now more than ever that I have an important fight coming up for the World Championship. I want to tell you that you are a very special person in my life. I am a little nervous, but I want to tell you and share with your friends and my friends if you want to marry me. I want you to be part of my life and me be part of yours.

When I read this, I was thinking, trashy. Was I wrong. That is a beautiful nude picture. Very classic.

The picture is not an act of salaciousness but of humility. Cruz is offering himself exactly as he is without any of the trappings success has brought him. And those trappings are always transitory anyway.

Wow, what an all around loving guy this is. He’s got a lot going for him and lucky the guy he proposed to. The photograph was done very tastefully and it also reflects his dedication to his partner. Is refreshing to see that not everyone is into the hedonistic “lifestyle”. I have hopes that they will be able to stay together and gray together. Having someone to love and share your life with to me, is the dream I’ve always had but will never experience. This because I am dying from ALS or as it is commonly called, Lou Gehrig’s disease. But that’s okay, I still have happiness in my heart as I interact on a regular basis with others around me in this nursing home.

      Charles175 —

“…I still have happiness in my heart as I interact on a regular basis with others around me in this nursing home. ”

You interact with us also Charles by your kind and intelligent words, such as from previously —

” This is why it’s so important to keep alive the fact that gays have contributed so much to society. To keep this history alive and in the light of true raw accuracy without bias. “

I thank everybody here for your support. I have come to realize that I was born gay for a reason. Most of us may not bring other new born people into this world but this does not diminish the purpose for those of us who are born gay. We bring the gifts of a unique form of intelligence that our heterosexual counterparts generally do not possess. It is these gifts that bring the unique creativity and genius that makes the world a better place, a brighter place to live in. In this I say, imagine if the world had no gay people in it. What kind of world would that be? Straight religious social conservative people are (at base root) a lot like the characters Al Bundy or Bud and his sister on the old TV sitcom “married with children”. The most successful comedies always have its roots in truth. Without this truth the comedy will never work. In retrospect, as the great gay brain drain from religious social conservative regions begins, let these wallow in their stupidity. They deserve it. The people in these regions claim that they have college educated people to replace us but they can never replace the natural inborn gifts and talents that we bring to this world.

      Hi Charles,

May I emphasize, from your comment No. 13 above, the following expressions or thoughts of yours that I think especially stand out ? —

      .

      1. “….this does not diminish the purpose for those of us who are born gay. We bring the
gifts of a unique form of intelligence…”

      2. “It is these gifts that bring the unique creativity and genius that makes the world a better place, a brighter place to live in.” (this one is terrific)

      3. “….they can never replace the natural inborn gifts and talents that we bring to this world.”

      .

Thanks for putting these things in words that everybody needs to know and remember.

@Charles175: Thank you, brother Charles, for expressing what many of us know in our hearts about our true, God-given nature. We ARE good for society,as long as we don’t live self- destructively as many do. I too have many longings that may not be fulfilled in my lifetime (I’m 45) but we are all family and I appreciate your kind words much. Take care.

” We ARE good for society….”

      “….we are all family….”
