Now that we’ve seen the trailer for Madonna‘s new historical drama, W.E., we’re finally sure it’s about King Edward VIII’s relationship with Wallis Simpson, and not just a thinly veiled roman à clef about her divorce from Guy Ritchie.
Though it got mixed reviews at the Venice Film Festival, W.E. is serious business, juxtaposing the famous couple’s story with that of Wally Winthrop, a young woman in 1998 who is obsessed with their story, which she believes to be the greatest romance of all time.
Hmm, maybe Madonna faked that British accent all these years just to get this movie made?

Say what you will about Madonna, but she is never afraid to try something new and put herself out there. Most people will slam this film because Madonna is the director, but I think we owe her the benefit of the doubt. The girl took a couple years off from recording and touring to do this and it shows her range as an artist and entertainer. Long live The Queen!

“Are you trying to seduce me?”
“Is it working?” *giggle giggle snort*
I stopped watching there.

Madonna was stunning in Evita and I love the soundtrack from that movie, especially
the dance remixes. I love period pieces and it looks like Madonna has made a
beautiful movie here, judging from the trailer. Wallace and Edward captivated the
world with their love for one another. Tennyson wrote: “Tis better to have loved and lost / Than never to have loved at all.” I think it’s better to have loved and be loved.

@Ben: Amen Ben. It’s so easy to put someone down people do it far too often.

glorification of empty headed dupes for the fascists.
Thiago
Madonna seems to like fascists, first Evita now these ones…maybe Madonna was one herself in a previous life.
