Maine Is Not At Risk of Losing 'Traditional Monogamous Marriage,' Because It Never Had It

If Maine's "Yes On 1" camp loses on Nov. 3, and voters opt to let gays keep their marriage rights, they're worried it'll be a huge uphill battle to generate support for another ballot initiative. Except in a live broadcast of a WMTW/Portland Press Herald debate, Stand For Marriage Maine's Brian Souchet obviously confused his facts. You see, if voters say "No On 1," there's no risk Maine will lose "traditional monogamous marriage," as Souchet claims. You see, heterosexual marriage hasn't been exclusively monogamous since, well … what are those ancient times — the roots of "traditional" marriage — bigots are always talking about?

No one ever asks a "married" couple to produce their marriage certificate when visiting a spouse at the hospital.
