      That last question is a tricky one. The distribution of those who feel strongly enough about this that it actually determines who they vote for is probably more balanced now than it was, but that 53% probably still favors the “against” side pretty heavily.

      As for the question itself… surely it depends as much on what the choices are as on a person’s own views?

      I would say that even if a majority are in favor, the majority of people in this country are still pretty homophobic anyways. Marriage is a pretty low threshold, until I stop seeing stereotypes, stigma, discrimination, slurs, and heterosexism I won’t be completely satisfied.
