I’m surprised he wasn’t killed within days of getting into prison.

How is this news related to the gay community in any way, shape, or form? Or is it just another queerty attempt to stir up the usual racists?

Ummmmm why paroled after 44 years? you take a life get ready to spend the rest of your days behind bars! plenty of people were glad one of Sharon Tate’s killer’s didnt see the light of day inspite of dying from a brain tumour and trying her hardest to die outside of jail!

Malcolm X Vs. MLK is easily the best example we have that returning hate with hate never works.

“Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that.” – MLK

Malcolm X was a great leader. He and Dr. King actually had a lot more in common in their writing than most people care to realize.

I read a lot of Malcolm’s stuff, and it’s informed a great deal of the way I do leadership to this day.

@afrolito: I have a hard time imagining that even the “usual racists” would care much about this story, because race doesn’t even come into this. It’s not like Malcolm X was assassinated by some white supremacist for his political views. The story here basically reads: crazy cultist kills man for leaving the cult and insulting their leader. Crazy cultist goes to jail for 44 years and seems to have turned his life around. Crazy cultist released from jail. The End. The only shocking thing in this story is that the government managed to finish something early for a change.

@Andrew: Uh if you think Malcolm X’s beliefs, ideals, and viewpoints were hate driven then you have absolutely no idea what you’re talking about on the subject.

On December 1, 1963, Malcolm X stated that he saw President John F. Kennedy’s assassination as a case of “The chickens coming home to roost.”

Soon afterward Elijah Muhammad suspended him and ordered him not to speak for the movement for 90 days. On March 8, 1964, Malcolm X publicly announced that he was leaving the Nation of Islam and starting two new organizations: the Muslim Mosque, Inc., and the Organization of Afro-American Unity.

Malcolm’s own chickens came home to roost on February 21, 1965.

But he did do some good with his life, he really did. Most notable to me 1) he renounced violence after previously embracing it. (somehow that never makes it into the public discussion about him, does it?) 2) He eloquently explained the usefulness of oppressed people getting to spend some time together with their own. (think gay soft-ball teams, if it’s too hard to understand).

I wonder what his killer was released to: All his family must be gone, or unknown to him, no?
