Man Arrested For Cross-Dressing in Dubai Offered to Take Gay Test (To Prove He’s Straight)

An 32-year-old Egyptian man arrested in September in Dubai for wearing a bra and panties — a cross-dressing offense! — insisted to the Dubai Court of First Instance “I’m not gay. If you want, you can make tests to prove whether I’m gay or not.” The arresting officer claimed he knocked the man to the ground as he walked on a public street because the man wasn’t wearing shoes and “had a shirt on which exposed a lot of his chest.” The man countered: “I wasn’t wearing women’s clothes. They were with me but I wasn’t wearing them.” The court acquitted him, citing lack of evidence. No tests were involved.
