Queerty is better as a member
If the California AMA hasn’t suspended this guys medical license pending an investigation, they should be informed of this incident.

Well, according to this http://www.torrancememorial.or… there are only 63 female physicians affiliated with Torrance Memorial Physician Network. Of those, only 4 are from Manhattan Beach and only one is appointed in 2013 – Tehmina Khan http://www.torrancememorial.or…
How can this guy both refuse to file a lawsuit and attempt to protect the doctor’s reputation. This just reeks of either stupidity or outright lies. What happens when some innocent kid goes to this doctor and gets the same diagnosis and actually buys into it!?!
“Moore doesn’t intend to file a lawsuit against his doctor, whose identity he insists remain anonymous to protect her reputation”
Then he’s as much of an ignorant asshole as the physician.
I’m OK with this. May I now go out on permanent disability? I’m clearly not going to get better.
If you allow yourself to be treated this way and then protect the doctor doing this to you, that is a diagnosis.
There is no need to be calling this guy names. He is not an ignorant asshole. I’m willingto bet that him not naming or identifying the doctor publicly has a lot to do with the Torrance Memorial Physicians Network or even the State Medical Board doing their ongoing investigation. Because for a medical doctor to deviate from protocol and to put that in someones medical record (302.0 for homosexuality) is serious. And those who are screaming for him to file a lawsuit, That would be very expensive, and he may not have the funds to do so. Or maybe he’s still weighing his options. But a lawsuit from an out 45yr-old who has already said that he did not take issue with what the doctor said, and who was in no way damaged by what was a false diagnosis will find it hard to go his way if taken to court. At least he is speaking up and trying to protect someone who could be damaged by this.
“If I was a 14-year-old in a small town in Indiana, where I’m from, and I had a doctor tell me or my parents that I was sick because they thought I was gay, it would’ve been very damaging.” I totally agree, which is why I can’t understand why Mr. Moore is more concerned with protecting an ignorant, malicious quack’s reputation than the well-being of the hypothetical kid in question. She needs to be outed for her malpractice and, by revoking her medical license, prevented from abusing her authority as a medical professional to impose damaging, faith-based stigma on her patients (that serves no one but herself) in the fraudulent guise of legitimate medical practice.
If some doctor told that to me, protecting their reputation would the last thing from mind. I’d sue the doctor and make the doctor’s insolence public knowledge.
Perhaps the good doctor would like to return to the 19th century, when she might have been diagnosed with “hysteria” for doing something so outrageous and uppity as trying to be practice medicine as a women.
@DonW: *trying to practice

According to the number 2 post on here the Doctor’s name is “Tehmina Khan”.
Why hasn’t she been suspended?
@Tackle: You’re as much of an ignorant asshole as he is.
