Hold onto your hats, America! We’re sprinting towards the marriage equality finish line now. The Campaign for Southern Equality is launching a huge multi-state effort in the reddest of red states, with civil actions at marriage counters starting this week.
First target: North Carolina, where voters recently passed a double-ban on marriage. It’s going to take a lot of work and time to undo that state’s anti-gay laws, but remember: just a few years ago, organizers in California were going through exactly the same process.
And then there’s all the lawsuits and litigation from coast to coast. Utah! Pennsylvania! New Jersey! Marriage activists are keeping judges awfully busy these days.
