For years, I couldn’t even say the words ‘transgendered’ or ‘transexual’. When I began to admit it to myself, I knew that I would eventually have to tell my parents, and my brother and my sisters. The fact would inject such terror in me that I would not sleep for days… My biggest fears were all about losing my family. Once they accepted me, everything else has been a piece of cake.”
—Matrix and Cloud Atlas co-director Lana Wachowski, discussing her transition into acceptance, in The New Yorker.

Good for her! Hollywood is such a homophobic place (not to mention sexist) and the world is STILL very transphobic. It makes me happy to see her speaking so openly.

Good for you Lana!
Coming out as Gay can be tough but people at least know about us, can’t imagine the discussions you had to go through with your family. Congrats on your happiness today!
