Our mother insists we were Baptized, but we have no personal recollection. So we like to think our pastor instead blessed us in the above manner. It must not have worked?
You have to understand, the refuge of the black community has always been the church. It’s really the only system that has demonstrated any level of consistant support. That system also happens to be (mostly) rabidly anti-gay. This is one of greatest stressors facing gay youth of color…the first thing they lose is family…the second thing they lose is the church.
It’s very difficult for the black community to trust ANY suggestion of changing the only system they can rely on…particularly when those suggestions typically comes from moneyed white men (ie. hrc et. al)

Why does it always have to be about race with u guys?
Homophobia is in every race.
*You’d think gays would have a greater sensitivity to bigotry because of their gay experience, but no.*

I somewhat agree…this is less about race and more about the system of beliefs we chose to subscribe to…and the reason these systems have so much power in society.
However, race is an issue simply because the church uses it’s pivital role in the black community to advance it’s hateful perspectives. If there were more unbiased (read: honest) systems of belief/support/community, I think the church would find itself playing a much smaller role.

Why do gay haters always sound super gay?
“That this child would be a proper child..”
As opposed to what, exactly? Are gays a different species now?
You would expect these guys would have a greater sensitivity to bigotry because of their black experience, but no.

@YCKTR
There explanations for all prejudices. But bigotry is bigotry. Inexcusable.
Well we shouldn’t get our hopes up of finding out that being gay or bi or transgender is biologica b/c some people would still not accept us.
Here is Rick Warren saying that much.

p.s. notice how he plugs in the gay=promiscuous in there too as is noted by the host’s guest on this youtube channel.

Some religions consider their skin color to be the Mark of Cain (*cough*Mormons*cough*), yet they don’t mind doing to others that was done to them?
Martin Luther King and his wife are spinning in their graves so hard that they’re captains of the Graveyard Gymnastics team.

Yet another example of the rampant homophobia in the black community!
@mojojojo
Actually, it’s more an example of the rampant homophobia in the baptist church.

Silly silly humans. Sad really.
