Well that's really got to stick in Lady Gaga's craw: Because she's been nominated for Best Dance Recording at this year's Grammy Awards, the pop tart is ineligible for the Best New Artist award, according to the Grammy's bizarre rule structure. But hey, it's not all bad news!
Not having a chance to win Best New Arist might actually be a good thing, since Gaga will avoid the award's curse. Sure, there have been category winners who went on to succeed — Alicia Keys, Christina Aguilera, NOrah Jones — but there are also one-time prodigies like Lauryn Hill and 2008's winner, Amy Winehouse, who are both considered geniuses. And also, complete crackpots.

She was previously nominated in the Best Dance Recording category in 2009 which makes her ineligible for best new artist in 2010.

Lauryn Hill has had several successful albums. You know in the sense that they sold units. Fiona Apple and Milli Vanilli on the other hand folded like a flan in a cupboard.
