How does a mayor of a medium-sized Arizona town get the attention of gays around America? Like Mayor Al Krieger: By managing to get yourself recorded by a news station espousing on how those disgusting homosexuals shouldn’t be allowed to serve openly in the military. “Limp-wristed?” Say that again when we’ve got a submachine gun pointed at your house, bro!
UPDATE: Mayor Krieger says he’s sorry. And it sooo doesn’t sound like a forced apology at all!

Those “lazy, limp-wristed people” serve their country with honour, as they do in every other country. As a Canadian bumpersticker says, “If you can’t stand behind our troops, feel free to stand in front of them.”
That would include *all* of them.

Wow, this is depressing to watch, and I’m sorry for the sensible people in Yuma who have to put up with this guy.
I wonder if he ever considered that LGBT people have had to live with worries that straight homophobes in positions of power won’t look out for them, won’t protect them, and won’t represent them as they simply try to live in this country in the ways he enjoys? Perhaps that might be a rational for wanting to serve and “change things.” I hope he might one day come to a better understanding of this subject; it isn’t too late.

“As an out and proud gay senior citizen of 73, I am dismayed and outraged by the recent comments of Yuma, Arizona Mayor Krieger wherein he called brave members of our armed forces “limp-wristed fairies”
We taxpayers of America, which includes the tax dollars of a very large minority group, namely LGBT people, work very hard for the money we earn, especially in these very difficult and trying economic times. To see those tax dollars being wasted on the salaries of hateful people like Mayor Krieger, is an insult and affront not only to the good citizens of this country, but to the brave and heroic service members who put their lives on the line daily for us, including the disrespectful name-calling Mayor of Yuma. He is no better than the equally homophobic Reverend Phelps and his clan from the Westboro Baptist Church ion Wichita, KS.
Fundamental religious extremists seem to be enjoying their heyday of “freedom of speech” in America. However, when a politician like Mr. Krieger is elected to a secular position of power, he should be aware of the fact that this power was not given to him to abuse, as he has just done. If Mr. Kreiger wishes to indulge himself in bigotry, hatred and religiously inspired mud-slinging, then I would suggest that he resign from his office and submit an application for membership with the aforementioned Westboro Baptist Church, where he would be welcomed with open arms.
Nothing but a full, heartfelt apology will address this grievance and is fully expected by those of us who help to pay this man’s salary.
