What I'm saying is that for this to have been a response, it should have been much more outrageous.

IN A SUBVERSIVE WAY, this cartoon partially normalizes the outrageousness of the Obama cover by equating it with something not so far from the truth about McCain… possibly implying that the Obama cover is also not that outrageous…

I agree with "An Other Greek", this cartoon is close enough to the truth to be a parody. It's an exagerration of the truth (McCain is old, he's a Hawk like Cheney and his policies don't hold the Constitution in respect) whereas the Obama cartoon is hysterical, racist (the joke hinges on his un-Western sounding name and his color) and it is not based on any facts whatsoever…. except that his wife is a gun-toting terrorist.

Mark's idea of having the abandoned family in there is funny but even still that's closer to the truth than Obama's terrorist links.
