At this point it’s nearly impossible to separate the porn world from reality television. Steven Daigle, star of Big Brother 10, is making a name (using his real name, even) for himself in the adult film world. And now it appears Dustin Zito, a star of the gay-for-pay site Fratmen, is embarking on the reverse career path, going from porn to reality TV. With MTV’s The Real World no less.
Computer masturbation enthusiasts know him as Fratmen.TV’s Spencer, but the 24-year-old Louisiana native ‘s real name is Dustin Zito. And the Lamar University grad (a true frat man?) is busy filming Real World: Back to Las Vegas right now, according to Vevmo, a reality show forum. The show began production just a couple weeks ago, and castmates are being housed at the Hard Rock Hotel instead of The Palms, as they were in the first Vegas season.
The series’ twenty-fifth season is once again being produced by Bunim/Murray Productions, and one forum poster claims BNM “knew about [Zito’s porn] past” and that “before the show airs the site he’s on is supposed to delete most of the content with him.” And it’s not like MTV hasn’t dealt with this territory before: an episode of True Life was dedicated to a gay-for-pay porn star. (We don’t know whether Zito is gay or gay-for-pay, but forum posters claim he’s straight. On Facebook, he lists one of his interests as “Gentlemen.”) Moreover, the Wikipedia page for the show notes Zito “has worked as an actor in the porn industry” — based on the Vevmo report, so producers certainly know of his history now if they didn’t before.
And besides, how else to trump previous “firsts” in Real World casting, which included transgender Katelynn and bisexual Mike Manning, but with a guy who swings both ways for cash?

Let’s recap this: Dustin/Spencer graduated from high school. This is good. He was admitted to Lamar University. Better for him. He’s a college student looking for money to pay tuition and room and board. Presumably, he had some loans and some grants; doesn’t sound like he had a scholarship. So Dustin needed money to make ends meet. Is recruited for Frat Pad, a gay for pay site. Dustin claims to be straight; his work would tend to indicate he is actually bisexual. Big deal. He worked to make his tuition in college and not through the usual low-paying retail and service jobs.
Bunim/Murray, the Real World producers, claim ignorance of Dustin’s past or sloppy vetting. I don’t believe it. B/M has been doing their reality gig for 25 years. By now, they have all the bugs worked out. This Dustin is despicable line is not credible in the least. Since when are the joker roomies in this version of RWLV paragons of virtue? One of the guys, a Moral Majority type, thinks of Dustin as a hypocrite. The African American jock is not much better and the girls come across as a bunch of snotty, high school gossipy snots.
Dustin downplayed his past. He sure as Hell did not lie and he is dealing with 6 or so idiots who can’t accept him for who he is now–a college graduate–trying like they are for a career boost.
