Meet the 2010 Repeal of Don’t Ask Don’t Tell, Arriving in the Senate on Wednesday

The ragtag team of Sens. Joe Lieberman, Carl Levin, Mark Udall, Kirsten Gillibrand, and Roland Burris will this morning introduce the Military Readiness Enhancement Act, which will repeal Don’t Ask Don’t Tell, prohibit military discrimination based on sexuality, and, according to a release, “promote the establishment of Reserve Officer Training Corps units at elite colleges and universities.” Nice. There will be a press conference at 11:45am EST, and that should do it for two thousand ten.

The move comes on the heels of Tuesday’s letter, from Defense Secretary Robert Gates, to the four branch heads of the military, declaring the Pentagon’s DADT review study “can only be successful if it is managed in a way that minimizes disruption to a force engaged in combat operations.”
