Meet The First Gays Married At Cruising Altitude

Since nobody can seem to track down the two men who supposedly got married aboard a Virgin America flight while in Canadian air space, does yesterday’s very-well-documented gay nuptials aboard Scandinavia’s SAS Airlines count as a world first?

Winners of the airline’s “Love Is In The Air” contest — which promised free flights and honeymoons to a gay male and female couple — got hitched. Aleksandar Mijatovic and Shantu Bahttacherjee began the celebration at the airport in Stockholm and continued their wedding festivities once airborne on a New York flight, as did Ewa Tomaszewicz and Gosia Rawinska.

Americans Thomas Landreth and Brett Kessler, from North Carolina, will be heading to the Ice Hotel in Sweden for their honeymoon — on a flight that’ll include their own in-air wedding.
