Megan Mullally’s I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter Ad Is a Mostly Tolerable Way for Celebs to Earn Cash

You’ve seen those Julia Louis-Dreyfus ads for Healthy Choice? And the newer one, with Jane Lynch? The premise of the spots is how the actress doesn’t want to be one of those celebrities who sells out to market commercial products, but of course that’s exactly what she’s doing, with a wink. And then there’s the campaign for I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter, featuring Megan Mullally of Will & Grace (and her internationally touring, ahem, band Supreme Music Program), which is less of a “I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here” type of a spot, and more a “I’m Going to Make This the Gayest Commercial Ever.”

We know this, because the It’s Not Butter campaign — which has been running for a few months, thank you — also included a full two-and-a-half minute Glee-style music video, which we just stumbled upon. It takes place in the freezer aisle, and it is called “Turn The Tub Around.”

It’s actually sort of adorable, and 10X more watchable than Ms. Mullally’s daytime talk show. The spot also marks at least two ways (the first being Louis-Dreyfus’ shtick) we’re perfectly fine with our celebrities selling out for big bucks. The third, of course, is represented here.
