"Mental Rape."

Here's conservative radio host Michael Savage's advice on explaining homosexuality to children: "You've got to explain to the children…why God told people this was wrong. …You have to explain this to them in this time of mental rape that's going on. The children's minds are being raped by the homosexual mafia, that's my position. They're raping our children's minds." [Media Matters]

I don't understand why this guy still has a show. What kinds of sponsors want to be associated with this kind of crap?

Savage is certifiable. He really should be institutionalized.

Keven57 – you beat me to it. He is truly insane and needs a psychiatric intervention NOW. Anyone who listens to him and takes him seriously is also suspect, don't you think?

People should know that he invented the Rockstar Energy drink and his son runs the business. If you drink it you shouldn't …just on that basis alone, nutritional claims aside.

His statements seem like contrived pandering. Maybe we can get Mann Coulter to weigh in?

While I usually agree with Savage, he can, at times, be a bit over the top even for my tastes…

Perhaps the children should do what his candidate John McCain's fundraiser in Texas says you should do during a rape…lay back and enjoy it.

Any gay person who agrees with anything Savage says needs his head examined.

Leave it to the conservatives to use any opportunity to link "gay" with "child rape"

Isn't it also "mental rape" to teach children sexism, racism and xenophobia?

Michael (Savage) Weiner wrote love letters to the very gay and out Alan Ginsburg and even went skinny dipping with him back in the day. His letters included descriptions of doing the hand-jive with the little brown boys in Fiji where he was doing botany research. In his book "Vital Signs" Michael writes, "I choose to override my desires for men when they swell in me", Weiner wrote, "waiting out the passions like a storm, below decks."So, apparently, he has first-hand knowledge about these things.

Conservatives really, really, really hate us, don't they? Not only do they protest our weddings, then try to revoke them in California, not only do they say we're worse than terrorists, now they have to say we're "raping" the minds of children. I'm honestly just stunned with all the crap they come out with.

Also, the caller who raised that question told his son that the two men holding hands that he saw was "the wrongest thing" he's ever seen. How disgusting is that? Telling his son that love is wrong; what kind of an ignorant, bigoted, out-of-touch children are these immature adults creating?

There seems to be something about the human condition that needs to "hate" something. Gays, Jews, foreigners… often why we have wars…. I think we humans just can't take responsibility. Our problems are always someone else's fault. Politicians and other leaders play on this to their advantage because otherwise we would all have to confront these things head on and actually do work and make hard choices to deal with real issues. It is always easier to blame "the other" – I'm not poor, I'm not part of this or that racial group – almost all human societies exist solely for the purpose of creating strata it seems.

Hey CitizenGeek, I grew up in the deep south and yes, they truly deeply hate us. I had so many consevative evangelical neighbors over the years who in addition to being religious were deeply racist and homophobic. I would never go back. We should have just let them cede from the union in the 1860s.

Reading about Mr. Weiner's hate-filled rantings (I have NO desire to actually listen to them) makes my mind feel as though its being pistol-whipped and burned with lit cigarettes. Did not know about the Rock Star energy drink thing. I'll cross that off my shopping list.

I hate energy drinks, anyway, but I'd never buy that brand if I did drink the stuff.

Aside from it being his brand, though, that stuff is just unhealthy as hell.

that is what he replied to. first thing i thought was a george bush and one of his suadi oil buddies.george bush holds man hand all the time.

seems like a lot of str8 guys in hollywood are doing it too. why john travolta even kisses his trainer/nanny/bodyguard on the lips on the tarmac at the airport.

It sad that a sizable number of U.S. citizens are such unabashed creatins to give these insane fucks ear. I guess he's no more, no less than another example of the mentally retarded Right wing Dum Fuks with thier viperlike malignamity.
As if not telling kids about Hoimosexuality will decrease the number of gay people. Indeed all it will do is to prevent kids from growing up with a helthy attitude toward sexuality.
This is wher we need to put our energy more than anything becaiuse this affects everone (e.g. not the limited # who want to get married.) That Gueen of the Buzzard cult Ann Coulter and her fat freak and and Oreilty , hannity and the whole Cadre of them are all STUPID: not because I don't like them but because they don't make any sense.

Yes, only a self-loathing closeted gay man could say something like this. No normal straight guy obsesses over gays like this. Savage wrote gay love letters to Allen Ginsberg years ago and wasspurned… 'nuff said.

Kevin Foster said it best….Michael Savage is Gay and engages in self loathing and lashing out against Gays (out out damn spot…so maybe if he rails against Gays we won't notice that he is a self loathing homosexual…you know like the closeted Gay bashers who engage in such conduct in junior high school and high school….there were several in my high school who did that to me and it turns out they are Gay (like my high school class President…who preyed on guys..he was the hugh basketball jock star, etc….)

typical and we shouldn't be surpised by the likes of the Michael Savage Weiners of the world (appropriate last name) I hear him talk and laugh loudly knowing the closeted self loathing fraud he is (and indeed feel some pity for him……but he chooses to do what he does ..so my pity factor is near nothing for him)

we all should OUT him and for the fraud that he is.

Slider: You wrote: "…who engage in such conduct in junior high school and high school…" Junior high?? Oh, please. Junior highs existed decades ago; they've since converted to middle schools. You're really dating yourself, honey.

The point is, if you still haven't gotten over your treatment in JUNIOR High School, perhaps you should consider a shrink to help you get over your inner hatred and anger. I'm only trying to help you cope. Just a thought……

OK, as a heterosexual Catholic male I challenge Michael Weiner and his hardcore listeners on the notion of a "homosexual mafia." Isn't a mafia an organization that participates in illegal activities such as extortion, murder, and money laundering?

And to call gay parenting "child abuse" is absurd. I happen to be unemployed and indigent with a 1-year-old daughter who's living with her mom. Yes my daughter's mother's a lesbian who lives with her partner, I thank the Good Lord that both of them have jobs and can provide my baby with a loving home with food and good comfort. If these right-wing pundits had their way and my daughter lived with me instead of her mother I would consider THAT to be child abuse because I cannot provide for her, I can barely provide for myself.

If anything I guess I'm venting because of my economical situation, I've been unemployed for the past year and I've gotten to the point where I can't make ends meet. If there is one thing I am happy is that my daughter knows she has a father who loves her very much and her mother and partner are reasonable people who understand my situation, allow me visitation rights, and so forth.

THX1139, I just wanted to say sorry for your frustrating situation and thank your for having a sound mind in your circumstances-hopefully things will change for the better. I've known the frustration of unemployment many a times. I'm so thankful that I have a good job as a postal worker. If you're not particular as to the kind of work you're applying for, try the U.S. postal system. I hear they pay well, as they do here in Canada. Peace.

"And ignorance begat ignorance, and foolishness after it's own kind."The real "mental rape" that's going on is the filling young minds with fear, hatred and intolerance before they are old enough to know total crap when they hear it.
