Homophobia in sports is a hot topic, and while we’re generally making moves to combat it here in the States, it can be a bit more accepted in some parts in the world. Soccer is big across the globe, and things can sometimes get a bit homophobic on the field.
Luckily, a group of Mexican soccer stars have come together to record a PSA to try to get their fans to cut out the homophobic chants in the stands. It also doesn’t hurt that they’re all pretty damn cute as well.

Even in La Liga, the Premier League and Serie A, homophobia is still common especially among fans. The sport is decades behind society. Glad to see these guys are taking a stand against it.

It’s a nice little public service ad in Spanish. As far as futbol goes, I think that sport tends to attract the worst fans of any sport truthfully. Hopefully that’ll improve in the near future.

@darkanser: It isn’t just homophobia. Players like Samuel Eto’o, Sulley Muntari, Kevin Prince Boateng and others were subjected to some horrific abuse because of their race.

Its a hooligans sport. But I like it. I can’t help but notice how many soccer fields are loaded with Mexicans when I drive thru Tulsa these days of late. Those cute little round butts bouncing around out there on those fields definitely belong to Mexicans. Indians (as in Native Americans) don’t play soccer.
