Mexico Supreme Court: Mexico City’s Gay Adoptions Are Just Fine

In a 9-2 vote, Mexico’s Supreme Court ruled Mexico City’s law allowing same-sex couples to adopt is perfectly legal and does not, despite federal prosecutors’ insistence, fail to protect them. The ruling follows last week’s High Court ruling affirming the city’s same-sex marriage law, and insisting all other jurisdictions might also recognize the licenses.

Prediction: a wave of LGB “illegal immigrants” from the US to Mexico, reversing the tide.

Kidding, of course, but congrats to Mexico City for their enlightened stance on this issue. I hope the US will follow suit.

I am also sure that the Vatican is in an uproar over this move, and will be following the press reports. Will let y’all know if something crops up.
