Gag! Did you hear? California’s letting anyone get married. Even Michael Lucas!
The state, which this year legalized gay marriage thanks to some “activist” judges, will soon host the blessed nuptials between the porn producer and his long-time, same-sex lover, Richard Winger. Liberal West Hollywood city councilman John Duran will officiate. Those are some San Francisco values right there…
Then, after they’ve tied their gay knots, Lucas and Winger will host a private, “special” ceremony for the pro-homosexual No on 8 agenda. Look at them politicizing marriage. For shame!
From the pornographer’s press release:
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.
The couple will use the event to host a fundraiser for Equality California, a leading statewide lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender civil rights and advocacy organization. Through their “No On Prop 8” campaign the group has been spearheading the fight against the homophobic Proposition 8 initiative, which calls for the elimination of the right for same-sex couples to marry.
While both individuals are prominent members of the gay and lesbian community in New York City, the couple must hold their ceremony in California at this time for two reasons. First, New York State does not acknowledge same-sex marriages performed within the state. Secondly, if Proposition 8 passes in November, California may not legally recognize their marriage.
But, seriously, we’re oh-so-happy for Lucas and Winger. We’ve already got our wedding present picked out. Hope it fits!

October 15, 2008 (New York, NY) — Michael Lucas and Richard Winger are pleased to announce their upcoming marriage in Los Angeles, California. A private ceremony will be held in West Hollywood and performed by Councilmember John Duran. Michael Lucas is President and CEO of Lucas Entertainment, New York City’s largest gay adult production company. Richard Winger is an international businessman and President Emeritus of New York City’s LGBT Center. The occasion also celebrates the couple’s eight-year relationship together.

“I’m very excited about the upcoming ceremony, and I’m proud to be having it in a state that accepts our relationship,” said Lucas. “This is not only a declaration of our love, but as a way to show that gay people can marry just like heterosexual couples. While it’s difficult to believe these rights may be swept away by such ignorance, it’s moments such as this when we need to come together and fight for a cause.”
“I have loved Michael for eight years, ever since we met at a Holiday Party, and I look forward to reaffirming our love and our relationship,” added Winger.
The event will be attended primarily by members of the adult entertainment industry. Following their nuptials in California, the couple plans to commemorate the ceremony with a gathering in New York City in November.

Gee they look so happy.

Michael Lucas is a “prominent member of the NYC gay community”? He’s a prominent mess.
Woof
Mess or not as long as they contribut to No on 8, let them have their moment!
Jason
Queerty is just queer.
Let the guy marry. Have his day. Live his life.
Go back to your self-loathing. Pathetic. Mindless. Stupid. Queerty. Ways.
Darth Paul
What does that make you, Jason, if you’re posting on this website? (Besides someone with terrible grammar, of course.)
Steve
Agree with Jason.
Queerty sucks!
Tim
Sounds like someone who wrote this article was begging for a droplet of Lucas’ pre-cum and went home unquenched.

Goolander (ML) has absolutely no shame. He’d have his wedding at the KMart if the “gay elite” and press were gonna show up.
Enjoy your marriage, but Goolander you are nothing but a publicity whore.
michael
I hope they raise a lot of money, but I am sure Goolander see’s it as an opportunity for publicity. He’s repulsive and Queerty, Lucas seems to have the power to really get your inner pissy queen going.
I mean, I think he’s a joke but come on, his he worth getting hot under the collar about?

What a bitchy, jealous, snotty report. Queerty continues to reveal itself as a somewhat mad, almost conservative website. Certainly not on all issues, but the credibility of this website as a PRO-Queer is in question.
These are two dudes who love each other. Is marriage supposed to be a celebration for those Queerty deems appropriate? I always thought the point of getting Prop 8 defeated was because marriage is a right FOR ALL?
Last, I think “San Francisco values” are a GOOD thing. Only hateful conservatives seem to disagree with me. Oh, and Queerty.

Good for them! Richard is a nice guy and a contributor to the community.
ILOVEZ
I do think it is NOT nice to make fun of them.
He is a porn star so what? It doesn’t mean he is abad person. Congrats to them by all means!
Oueerty should have been supportive!
Richard Winger
