Leave it to apparel trendsetter Michael Sam to make a bold fashion statement during his inaugural weekend as the NFL’s first openly gay player in history.
Though he may have been the 249th overall pick in this year’s draft, Sam’s St. Louis Rams rookie jersey is already the second-highest seller in the NFL’s official online store. The only newbie standing between Sam and “top seller” status is new Cleveland Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel.
“This is unprecedented for a Day 3 pick, let alone a seventh round pick, to crack the top five rookies sold following Draft weekend,” NFL spokesperson Joanna Hunter told Out Sports.
The Wrap notes that Sam’s jersey could break into the top spot during the next two days, as Manziel technically had a two-day head start. For the record, Sam’s apparel sales have topped the draft’s No. 1 overall pick Jadeveon Clowney.
How about we take this to the next level?

@ingyaom: You obviously don’t shop for clothes in any mall in the US.
