Michael Savage Says He's Never Advocated Violence. Excuse Me?

mikesavage3423

Because the United Kingdom's home secretary Jacqui Smith announced Michael Savage (aka Michael Weiner) was on the nation's banishment list, Savage says he's going to sue her for defamation. No, really, he's serious! Says Savage: "For this lunatic Jacqui Smith, the home secretary of England [sic], to link me up with skinheads who are killing people in Russia, to put me in [the same] league with mass murderers who kill Jews on buses, is defamation. I thought this was a joke or a mistake … How could they put Michael Savage in the same league with mass murderers when I have never avowed violence?" That's so funny, Michael! Because WE'LL TELL YOU.

On just one of many days when you spat hateful bile from the comfort of a radio studio, you also "avowed violence."

On April 17, 2006, a signature anti-Muslim tirade included: "Intelligent people, wealthy people … are very depressed by the weakness that America is showing to these psychotics in the Muslim world. They say, ‘Oh, there’s a billion of them.’ I said, ‘So, kill 100 million of them, then there’d be 900 million of them.’ I mean … would you rather us die than them?" Listen here.

But that was just a joke, right Mike? And not representative of your true feelings?

This lunatic needs to get locked up by the guys with the butterfly nets. No one is a bigger free speech advocate than me… but he is really insane. A deeply closeted self hating gay man who is the PERFECT poster child for what an anti-gay society can do to a person. I am going to throw a f-ing party when he gets busted with some 20 year old guy in a bathroom stall.

Savage serves a public service, and a rare niche, he's the ONLY adult in America Doocy can laugh at as STUPID.

This foul gollum, (with a FACE for RADIO) has had a career spanning from Allen Ginsberg to Matt Drudge….from queer A to Queer B, and in the mean time wished a gay caller he'd die from AIDS.

I'd shove pencils in MY OWN EARDRUMS, before I'd listen to him spew his HATE and IGNORANCE!

two words for Michael Weiner Savage

Oh but that was "Judeo-Christian" self-defense, don'tcha know? That's why eventually he'll say it's OK to kill all gays because they'll stomp on old women's crosses and send harmless white powder to everyone who believes in God. Help help! Michael Savage is being oppressed, and the world is defaming him!

Now if we can only de-fame him.

Fantastic post.

Micheal Savage incites hatred on his program every single day. Whether it be for women or homosexuals, he is a dangerous person and should be treated as such.

Freedom of Speech should be fiercely guarded, even for Micheal Savage, but there is such a thing as Irresponsible Speech and he is a deranged person who whips out the Bible like a lunatic. Like he did the day marriage became legal in California. He whined to the point of tears almost, stomping his feet like a toddler, screaming verses from the bible.

This guy is a freak and WOR should be held responsible for the platform they give him.

There are people in life who are loser sociopaths, they pick up a microphone and become spokespersons for the same type losers who relate to them. They call him "DR SAVAGE" … he is a NUTRITIONIST. He is nothing and no one to be looked up to, he should be noticed for the sickness he spreads.

The ironic thing:

Jacqui Smith actually did something right for once, and it still doesn't change the fact that many Brits expect her political future to last a matter of days or weeks. The real question right now is whether or not she'll be kicked out by Brown or with Brown. Savage, on the other hand, will probably continue polluting the airwaves (and thereby the minds of American citizens) for many years to come.

I know you feel angry Lawrence. I would be too if I were in your situation. I mean you guys have NOTHING. You and your fellow conservatives lost the White House, both Houses of Congress, and every region of the country outside of the South. As far as government goes you are now the 5 year-old little girl sideshow, whining in your confined corner of Congress while the Obama and the rest of the adults actually run the country.

Quit your bitching and and go get used to the new reality you've been left with, and will be left with for years to come. Go sit down on your tattered couch, drink up that the cheap beer you bought at Walmart, shove more twinkies and fatboy burgers down your gullet, forward that email about Barack Obama a few more times, and cry over the fact that it's now up to five states gay people can get married in.

And to quote a line all you Republicans used during the Bush years: if you don't like it, feel free to leave the country.

Wow, this site is filled with retards… Only Lawrence seems to be the intelligent one here…. America is founded upon the right of freedom of speech.. if it wasn't that there would be no such thing as gay rights… You are denying Michael Savage his freedom of rights… isn't that the same thing the gay community has been fighting against? you guys are a bunch of ignorant hypocrites…

Who's denying savage his right to free speech? As far as the facts bear out, he's been making poor use of his right for several years now, and it'd take a much deserved heart attack for him to curve it.

Ya know, it's anal fissures like you who think that free speech magically excuses bigotry and hate speech. More importantly, you think free speech eliminates the free speech of others to criticize hate speech. Proving, definitively, that you don't know what the fuck free speech means.

Tank your a retard… clearly your the one that doesn't know the definition of free speech… it's not meant for polite speech but offensive speech….

If you honestly think that gay rights was not offensive to people then you really don't know shyt… people were and are offended by it.. but doesn't mean you don't have a right to spew it..

you would be still in the closet if it wasn't for freedom of speech…

I don't listen to the man. (I did sporatically in the past, I admit.) He is a hate-monger, no doubt whatsoever. He is deeply troubled. I defend his right to speak under the Constitution AND I defend the right of those who want to pressure/boycott advertisers. That's the surest way to rock the world of the hate mongers. I always use the "race" and "feminist" criteria set when looking at assholes like Savage. Replace racial and sex based words instead of gay and see how society would react.

Hey, he does that, too!

The Gay Agenda marches on!

First we took over New England, then Iowa, and now Washington DC where we will join forces with Bill Maher and destroy the institution of marriage.

After that we will remove the American flag and replace it with a very very gay rainbow flag.

We will then use NPR and the liberal media to MAKE EVERYONE GAY!

I just have to point out to you that THIS is what a bigot looks like. Not the same thing as a politician not moving quickly enough on advancing gay rights…there IS a difference, so the next time I see "Obama is a bigot", I'll refer you to this thread/post.

Maybe check out the Pat Robertson article, another good example of a real bigot, because overusing it dilutes the term.

@Dennis:

I think it's effective to call someone a bigot even if they're not *as much* of one as Michael Savage. Who wants to be compared to Michael Savage?

As far as diluting the term, there are always other good ones, like "fuckhead" :)

Pat Robertson is a fucking joke. Nobody takes him seriously anymore, not even the Christian Right.

@ Burton your a turd, you completely missed the point of my post. Whenever people resort to commenting on the grammar then clearly they don't have a good counter argument.

Anybody from the gay community that thinks it was right to ban Michael Savage deserves none of their rights either. Btw feel free to have a field day with my grammar Burton, I made sure there was several grammar mistakes to keep you occupied.

This is actually one of the less-violent remarks he's made. Other gems:

"If we had a government, we'd blow them out of the desert with airplanes!" (about illegal immigrants)

"I say round them up and hang 'em high!"

"When I hear someone's in the civil rights business, I oil up my AR-15!"

What happened to the Allen Ginsberg-loving bicurious flower child that Michael Weiner used to be?

The problem with the quotes you are using as evidence of his inciting violence is that they can not be taken seriously.

I'm not saying that they can't be taken seriously because there aren't those people out there that subscribe to those views or that Michael does not really want those things to happen, but… honestly, can I just go out and "round em up and hang 'em high" (he was referring to commies) today?

When he encourages terrible things like these, it's always about how the government should be doing it and it is never feasible for the average Joe to accomplish. If the "Joe" is more than average, I highly doubt Savage persuaded him to do it.

@Daniel: You may not take seriously the person that yells "fire" in a theater, but that doesn't mean the person gets to say it.

I would be surprised if he doesn't actually incite violence. If Marilyn Manson can be blamed for school shootings, why can't Michael Savage be blamed for hate crimes?

@Daniel: But these are horrible things to say, especially when immigrants are actually being killed at the border by vigilante groups and when gays are getting bashed. They're not hypotheticals he's talking about–they're things that occur every day.

Posted: May 10, 2009 at 7:01 pm

@Hannah: Your example does not fit. Yelling "Fire!" in a theatre directly panics those in proximity and that is what you'd be prosecuted for; the mental anguish you caused on random victims. On the other hand, people choose to tune into his show and listen to his opinions and some facts (true or false) about the middle east. If someone can link him to a hate crime, much like when Al Sharpton's protest killed several Jews in 95, they should take him to court.
