The Michigan senate just passed a bill that keeps in tact language that makes sodomy a felony that can carry a sentence of up to 15 years in prison – but it’s not exactly homophobic, it’s all about protecting animals. Let us explain.
Although anti-sodomy laws have been ruled unconstitutional by the Supreme Court, an animal rights bill is making it harder to rewrite the language and take it out.

For the last several years, Michigan legislators have been trying to pass an important package of bills referred to as Logan’s Law, designed to keep pets out of the hands of animal abusers, according to The Detroit Free Press. Among the bills in the Logan’s Law package — named for a Siberian husky who died tragically after acid was intentionally poured on him — is Senate Bill 219, by GOP Sen. Rick Jones. In addition to barring convicted animal abusers from owning pets for five years, SB 219 would update language in the state’s ban on bestiality and sodomy as follows:

There you have it. Sodomy is still a felony punishable by up to 15 years in prison, but it’s unconstitutional (and therefore unenforceable) anyways, and this bill helps keep cute puppies safe from potential animal abusers.
Or so they say. It all seems a bit archaic to us, but we skipped law school so we’ll take the Senator’s word for it and believe that puppies and bears are safe in Michigan.

Being unconstitutional won’t stop them from arresting people and ruining their lives only to later say “Oops, sorry.” It still remains to be seen whether or not Governor Snyder will sign it into law. He’s already got a lot on his plate because of the crisis in Flint, however in this case he’s either anti-puppies or anti-gay so we’ll just have to wait and see what he does. Either way, gays who have the ability to do so should consider leaving Michigan. It’s just not worth it anymore to stay and fight.

This shows what idiots and clowns we have serving in our state legislature. This issue was fought all the way to SCOTUS a number of years ago and found to be unconstitutional. There already laws in the state constitution from centuries ago making anal sex a felony and now they muddy up an already outdated and laborious state constitution by going at it again. When will these idiots get it that “doggie” is a term describing a position – it has nothing to do with bestiality or animal abuse. We’ve got a whole community dealing with contaminated drinking water and they spend time in Lansing with this crap. What a bunch of losers.

They use these laws to harass gay men. They can still arrest you for the crime, take you to jail, charge you, make you get a lawyer, send you to trial.
It just gets thrown out when you get into court. This legal harassment law needs to go. As do the lawmakers who created it and voted for it.

750.158 Crime against nature or sodomy; penalty.
Sec. 158.
Any person who shall commit the abominable and detestable crime against nature either with mankind or with any animal shall be guilty of a felony, punishable by imprisonment in the state prison not more than 15 years, or if such person was at the time of the said offense a sexually delinquent person, may be punishable by imprisonment in the state prison for an indeterminate term, the minimum of which shall be 1 day and the maximum of which shall be life.

So you see there’s really nothing new here…just changing some language. As of 2015, the law still existed (on the books). This idiot is going to force a legal fight now that will get the law PERMANENTLY REMOVED, as it should have been years ago!
I live in Michigan (sorry to admit) and haven’t heard about any enforcement action on this stupid law…I don’t think there will be any subsequent enforcement. Somebody is kissing the asses of religious, right-wing lunatics!
