Video of actor and retired boxer Mickey Rourke calling out Manny Pacquiao’s antigay comments has been posted by TMZ.
Last week, the celebrated boxer came under considerable fire — and lost a lucrative contract with Nike — for stating that animals are better than gay people “because they recognize gender differences,” and “if you have male-to-male or female-to-female (relationships), then [gay] people are worse than animals.”

Asked what he felt about these comments, Rourke responded, “I think they were wrong and out of place. And I think that we all gotta watch what we say… That was from the Old Testament, so you got to give him a little bit of room. I got a lot of gay friends… I’m a little bit gay myself.”
How about we take this to the next level?

Pacquiao’s statement is doubly ignorant, but Rourke’s smacks of “gay as an insult.” WTF?

remember to boycott the Academy Awards this weekend very important lack of diversity no gay or lesbian characters black of blacks Spanish for 10 people Latinos Chinese LGBT lack of women in various roles and powerful sessions it is time to change and if we want change we have to demand it do not support products or do not watch TV shows we are not represented as you continue to do this and you’re not represented and you support these things that is a problem while we can advance and move forward again do not support things that do not so forward to starting with the Academy Awards this weekend make them realize the difference in that you count and make sure you tell others to do the same otherwise you are part of the problem

@Mike Johnson: Nominations are based on performances, not skin color. Grow up!

@Jim Philbrick: why tear down an ally?

@Mike Johnson: Awards and recognition should be given based on merit and not on skin color.

Mickey Rourke is so masculine and yet so comfortable with the idea that others might think he has homosexual desires. I couldn’t imagine Brad Pitt or George Clooney – Hollywood’s ultimate girly men – acting like this.

Thank you Mickey! And I think you might be right about that!

@Aranos: I don’t know if Mickey Rourke is an “allie”; an ally perhaps or did you mean to say that he was an alley? /|\
