Furthermore, it has been proven that people who believe in god wholeheartedly without questioning the world around them are significantly dumber than those around them that actually accept that the world is different than what is written in the bible…

Also, when is the last time tongues of fire descended from the sky and allowed people to all speak the same language at the same time? When was the last time anyone was struck down by god for sinning? How about the other people on this earth that follow different religions, who have different gods than your own, whose main commandment is thou shall not have any gods before me?

Also, marriage has been around for thousands of years, and it predates Christianity. Christianity adopted many pagan rituals. Christmas? It was a pagan holiday, orgies would occur on those days and men would give presents to each other. Easter? The bunny is a pagan fertility symbol that would be worshipped around that time. Christianity has modified itself to fit other peoples beliefs while excluding those who can’t fully accept it.

Christianity is a popular religion because it can include you and exclude you in a second, it’s the largest group of “Mean Girls” on the planet and the Pope is Regina George.

I suggest you educate yourself and learn more theology because all your theology hasn’t taught you shit about your own religion.

I am an atheist, but I live more like Jesus Christ than any christian who “hates” on gays… You know, you should learn to turn the other cheek, and not covet my life. My life should not affect yours in any way, so why is it that you want to affect my life in such a great manner. who are you to say who I can express my love to? No Christian is god, and only god can judge…so why do you judge? Are you a prophet? are you the second coming? I do not think so…For all your theology, your Knowledge is still clouded by your beliefs. Everyone is entitled to their beliefs, and everyone is entitled to their convictions…but sometimes people can be convinced and taught the wrong thing, and believe that what they were taught is right…People have to learn what is right, and what was right 2,000 years ago is not what is right today. This earth is a living thing, and it changes every single day. no blade of grass is the same, nor is every human. I do not go into your house and covet what you have…I do not wish to have your life….I just wish to have mine, without someone of your faith shouting at me about my life. I know how i live my life, and if I should be wrong about your deity fine, I’ll take my punishment and eternal pain in hell. The point of the matter is I am living my life, caring about mine and me…you should live life caring about you and yours. The amount of time you spend on here preaching your word can be spent on your family, or learning something new…I hope you understand where I’m coming from. And know that I’m being completely serious when I talk to you… There is no sarcasm or yelling.

It’s also important for us to remember as LGBT Christians that Jesus sacrificed his life for a greater good – a good (or “kingdom of God”) that opposed the partnership between violent, injust, state power and organized religion.

Jesus democratized our relationship with God and was the first protest-ant, and this is why Christianity in its true, unadulterated form has been a liberation movement. Christians who act in the true spirit of the Lord often suffer real persecution (ie, Archbiship Romero of El Salvador, Martin Luther King Jr., Father Daniel Berrigan, the folks in Soulforce, etc.), unlike the many “persecuted” Christians who invest so much time in preventing a woman her right to choose or tearing apart LGBT families.

And funny enough, 2 books back in Genesis, polygamy, incest, murder, cheating, stealing, slavery and attempted burning of women were all practiced by the patriarchs who were favored by God. So, where’s the literalism when it comes to conservatives who claim to “follow Scripture”?

Also…I know this really burns the conservatives: but, seriously, the Bible was written by MEN. They were writing about their relationship with God and understanding God. It was NOT written by God. The first 5 books of the bible were written primarily as a story about the creation of Israel and the Jewish people, as a nation and religious community.

Um, no. Marriage predates Christianity, and marriage will exist long after Christianity is but a faded memory. Pair bonding is older than any society.

For all the people on here defending Miss California. She of course has a right to freedom of speech but she will have to deal with the ramifications of her actions. There were many ways she could have answered the question she chose to use it as a platform for bigotry. Miss USA is a spokesperson position and she simply DID NOT ANSWER THE QUESTION. It is the job of Miss USA to smoothly and articulately answer questions and to make people relate to her. She was not able to do that in her Q and A period.
