Mitt As McCain's Veep?

Republican Mitt Romney may get a chance at the White House, after all! The failed presidential candidate and former Massachusetts governor has reportedly crept high up John McCain's list of potential running mates:

Surprising many Republican insiders, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney is at the top of the vice presidential prospect list for John McCain. But lack of personal chemistry could derail the pick.

“Romney as favorite” is the hot buzz in Republican circles, and top party advisers said the case is compelling.

One of the chief reasons the Massachusetts governor is looking so attractive is his ability to raise huge amounts of money quickly through his former business partners and from fellow members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, the Mormons.

McCain sources tell Politico that they believe Romney could raise $50 million in 60 days. One close Romney adviser said it could even be $60 million.

Romney would also help bring out the religious and social conservative vote. Could it be time to remind Republicans that Romney flip-flopped on gay rights? He once proclaimed his same-sex support, but later championed against gay marriage in his state.

I think this would be great for Democrats. Mitt Romney is a joke, and while he might energize the homophobic, anti-immigrant Evangelical vote, he will surely repulse independents, who'll flock to Obama.

Romney is being pushed by Bush and Rove. The McCain campaign will go into a nose-dive if he lets these two tell him who to select as Veep.

DO IT MCCAIN. Romney is electoral poison. Independents and working class people can't stand this smarmy smug douche and hard core evangelicals who see Mormonism as a dangerous cult.

It would guarantee an Obama win.

Better dust off those old FLIP FLOPs from 2004 that the Repukes used to wave around. They are going to need them for this charlatan.

Unfortunately, McCain needs a woman or a minority as the country passes through this phase of championing diversity……….

Crack addict?
What facile twaddle.
A McCain/Romney pairing would sparkle in its bizarreness. I can't imagine McCain making that choice. But the two of them karmically deserve and complement each other.
they are both feckless, robotic, manniquins.
ugh.

"Unfortunately" RCPV? Why am I not surprised to hear you disappointed at the prospect of someone other than a white guy? You'd probably prefer someone like Gov. Crist. I hear Larry Craig might be available by then.

These two can not fake liking each other enough. It would be like Kerry and Edwards, awkwardly pretending to be best friends.
