Joe Germanotta has been hard at work opening a new trattoria called Joanne on Columbus Avenue and 68th Street in New York City. Papa Gaga even tapped Art Smith, Oprah‘s old chef, to run the place.
“The Upper West Side is known for its itty-bitty restaurants, and Joanne’s is just that, a tiny restaurant with a Southern soul and an Italian heart,” Smith told the New York Post.
The chef is a pal of Mother Monster’s—the openly gay Smith showed her how to cook deep-fried turkey and waffles for her Thanksgiving special (yes, it’ll be on the menu at Joanne). Opening on February 1st, the resto is housed in an old-school brownstone, has two working fireplaces and a year-round garden.
No word yet as to whether it’ll serve beef tartare on live models, à la Gaga’s infamous meat dress.
How about we take this to the next level?

Yeah, because this story was more important to the gay community than a gay politics report. Great to see such well-considered priorities.
