Morning Aural: Asobi Seksu

https://youtu.be/oJ69AjKCa34
You know what day it is? It’s Thursday! What better day, then, to feature “Thursday” from New York-based dream popsters Asobi Seksu‘s 2006 album, Citrus.

The quartet formed a few years back, garnering a bit of buzz with their 2004 self-titled debut and fetching a bit more with last year’s offering. Still, they don’t get as much attention as they deserve, so hopefully you kids will love them, buy their shit and help them on their way.

As for the name – apparently it’s Japanese: asobi means “play” and seksu means “sex”. Sounds good to us.

(PS: We’ve included the lyrics after the jump. Feel free to sing along…)

with gentle hands
i’m raining for you
in drops of blue
i wished that I were you
with heavy hands
i reached out for you
my skin soaking wet
my eyes searched for you

(chorus)
since you’ve lost your way,
you’ve let our love fall apart
nothing’s left here but you
no, don’t remind me
now that we’ve lost our way
the rest can all fall apart
all i see here is you
no, don’t remind me

with sharpened tongue
i’m crying out for you
i must have you back
and that i need you
and all of the things
as if then were now
and swept through the days
when i once held you

(chorus)
since you’ve lost your way,
you’ve let your love fall apart
nothing’s left here but you
no, don’t remind me
now that we’ve lost our way
the rest can all fall apart
all i see here is you
no, don’t remind me

(male-female vocal)
whistle through my window
wait at the cemetery [?]
whistle through your window
wait at the cemetery
