Morning Aural: Boney M

Boney M were an international sensation during the 1970s. Selling over 150 million albums, the West Indian disco outfit scored a slew of number one singles. Sadly, none of those tunes found much success in the U.S. To offer a little aural education, then, we’ve posted three of Boney M’s biggest hits: “Sunny,” “Rasputin,” and “Ma Baker”. The last two can be found after the jump, of course…

I second johnzy’s comment. Boney M is one of my all time faves thanks to their rendition of, “No Woman No Cry.” And “Rasputin,” of course 8^)

OMG! Boney M! I used to be the hugest fan. I would force my mother to take me to the market whenever a new single was coming out. I remember dancing to “Brown Girl in the Ring” in primary school (me, gay? never) and I still have the limited edition red vinyl print of “Painter Man.” I would KILL for a CD release of “Boonoonoonoos.”
