Jane Child hit it big in the States with this synthy bit of radio bubblegum back in 1990–a brief, shining era in urbanity’s underground when it paid to be a bit freakish and no one even attempted to record a song until they’d perfected a look to go with their music first. Child certainly knew how to work a look–but her tunes were pretty tight, too. These days, the singer’s playing it much more low-key, and she’s released several of her ’90s tracks direct for free via her website along with a smattering of her grittier modern metal cuts.
