We’ve been telling people that Kanye West is the new Björk ever since he latched onto Japanese artist Takashi Murakami to design the graphics for “Graduation”. Now, Mr. West’s confirmed our hunch that his career goal is to become an avant-garde hip-hop auteur by telling Vibe that he longs to embrace his inner Icelandic snow pixie– and you know, pose naked on the cover of a magazine:
“It’s like Björk. If she wanted to pose naked, you’d be like, ‘Oh, that’s Björk.’ But if I wanted to pose naked, people would draw all type of things into it. I definitely feel like, in the next however many years, if I work out for two months, that I’ll pose naked. I break every rule and mentality of hip-hop, of black culture, of American culture.”
Here’s hoping we get to see all of Kanye’s ego exposed sometime real soon. In the meantime, more evidence of his Björkiness is available by way of the video for “Love Lockdown”, which makes absolutely no sense at all, but sure is fun to look at.
Let’s hope in the nude photos there will be a pillow to cover his face.
Perhaps he will inspire other hip-hop artists to feel empowered enough to talk about something else besides bitches and bling.
The guy is a cry-baby loser. Never liked his music. He is all about himself. Not a good role model, unless someone wants to re-enact his selfish, cry-baby, egotistical manners.
@jababe: Try some Sage Francis, especially “Going Back to Rehab”. He’s my favorite right now.
