Didn't know this song and I wish I hadn't heard it. It is VERY DULL.
It's funny — website comment threads are one of the few places in my life where I often encounter open, unreconstructed, hate-filled racism.
So, Queerty often serves as a useful reminder that the civil rights struggle is an ongoing one.
But it's nice to get that reminder in a beautiful voice for once, rather than in the ugly ones of our local trolls. So, thank you, Mavis Staples.
Whenever I see this kind footage it destroys me. It doesn't seem possible this could be the same planet let alone country. Thanks Queerty for reminding us how far we've come in order to get to where we are going.
