Morning Aural: The Very Best

European production team Radioclit and Malawian-born “to London via France & Sweden” singer Esau Mwamwaya are The Very Best, which does the African multi-cultural sound that Vampire Weekend aped to much acclaim last year, but from an African perspective. Before making comparisons to Elvis’ ‘borrowing’ of black music, you should know that The Very Best grabs from Western sounds and hip-hop styling as readily as Vampire Weekend grabs the rhythms of the kuduro. It’s a great big global jam out there and they’re all playing “Kamphopo”.
