Morning Aural: Lee Hazlewood & Nancy Sinatra

“Some Velvet Morning” is one of our favorite songs of all time, with Lee Hazlewood playing the part of a tripped out lonesome cowboy recounting his tutelage in the art of love by Phaedra and Nancy Sinatra blissed out, singing about daffodils.

What we didn’t know is that the version of the song we all know today is not the one they originally recorded. It’s actually from a 1967 TV special called Movin’ With Nancy and the video is just as amazing as anyone could possibly hope.

Great song, but I think ‘Sand’ is my favorite Nancy/Lee track.

Thanks for posting this. I’m old enough to remember seeing this special in the 60s and it was very popular and if I remember correctly had Nancy visiting different places in CA where she sang several duets including the Bobby Darin song THINGS with Dean Martin.
