Oh, the wit! Hoping to harness the awe-inspiring power of Gossip Girl, MoveOn.org today released this ad featuring Penn Badgley and Blake Lively, the telegenic stars of GG.
In the ad, the actors – and some other, nameless young folk – flip the script a bit and urge their parents to vote for against John McCain. “I found this in your room,” says Bagdley, while another mop top admonishes, “Just because other people your age are doing it, doesn’t make it cool.” Wait, wait – isn’t that exactly what MoveOn’s doing with this ad? Oh well.
Lively, meanwhile, maintains a straight-face while delivering this knee-slapper, “If you’re ever out somewhere and you’re considering voting McCain, just call me, no questions asked.” We’d laugh if that line weren’t so predictable. Still, good hustle!

I don’t understand. The linked video was against McCain. It was modeled against one of those anti-drug commercials. Your summary said that it was for McCain.

Who gives a shit who these morons are for OR against. Anyone swayed by these morons should have their right to vote stripped away for life!

Queerty seriously need a proof-reader. Like, RIGHT NOW.
In any case, MoveOn.org generally have horrifically bad ads (General Betray Us, hung up on hope etc.) but I actually quite like this one.

Penn Badgley is cute.
Shallow post, but damned if I ain’t right.

Even cuter than Penn is the guy with curly brown hair. Who’s that?
