MT State Rep. Ken Peterson Wants Any Gays Caught ‘Recruiting’ Straights To Be Jailed For 10 Years

State Rep. Ken Peterson, a 75-year-old Republican attorney from Billings, is four years into his second stint in the Montana House. The Brigham Young University alum is married to his wife Cherye, who might be a lovely woman, I don’t know. I do know Ken is a douchenizzle, though. He’s one of the folks who led the charge to block a bill that would’ve removed Montana’s sodomy laws from its books, keeping them up to date with the Supreme Court’s ruling on the matter. Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, Peterson doesn’t care what happened in the high court’s 2003 Lawrence v Texas case, or even the Montana Supreme Court’s 1997 decision in Gryczan v. State of Montana. Because, argues Peterson, it should still be illegal for gays to 1) act gay in public; and 2) recruit straights into the lifestyle. Yes, really.

Explaining his defense of keeping Montana’s sodomy laws alive and well, even if wholly unenforceable, Peterson says the Supreme Court’s decision applies only to acts that take place in private. “In my mind, if [gays] were engaging in acts in public that could be construed as homosexual, it would violate that statute,” the Missoula Independent quotes him as saying. “It has to be more than affection. It has to be overt homosexual acts of some kind or another… If kissing goes to that extent, yes. If it’s more than that, yes.” So two men tonguing each other in front of an ice cream parlor remain a felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison? Two gals sharing a boob rub in the park should get them slapped with a $50,000 fine?

Yes! But that’s not all! See, Peterson also worries about all the gays recruiting perfectly straight people into their abnormal way of life.

“Homosexuals can’t go out into the heterosexual community and try to recruit people, or try to enlist them in homosexual acts,” he says. Like how though? Like so: “‘Here, young man, your hormones are raging. Let’s go in this bedroom, and we’ll engage in some homosexual acts. You’ll find you like it.'” But isn’t a bedroom a private place? So recruitment that takes the sex act behind closed doors is still illegal? Man, there are so many rules!

And while Peterson knows recruitment when he sees it, he’s never actually seen it. That’s because “I don’t associate with that group of people at all… I’ve associated with mainstream people all my life.” You know, the non-recruiters, of which Peterson is a card-carrying member.
