NC County Commissioner Bill James Votes For Tolerance Resolution Because It’s A Meaningless Gesture

Having called gays “sexual predators” and compared them to “prostitutes and pedophiles,” North Carolina’s Mecklenburg County Commissioner Bill James faced little official rebuke from colleagues, who passed a two-page resolution that wristslapped but did not censure him. Instead the commission says it “acknowledges that inflammatory speech directed at each other, any person or group risk (sic) the incitement of violence.” Toward the provocateur, apparently. The commission did pass a “tolerance resolution.” Unanimously. James voted for it, he says, because “it won’t really accomplish anything.”
